It depends. If it's a crazy cluster-f*ck where there's a lot of difficult isolation problems I'd just do it myself. But if it's just like a 5 mile stretch with one line then it'd be good to have a friend there.

I think another GOOD locator is always helpful. If you get someone other than that... it is a waste of time.

Long project, I would definately choose to work with others I trusted. Many of those I had the fortunate opportunity to work with, we had been a team for a couple of years anyway. Knowing each others strengths and weaknesses went A VERY LONG WAY in accomplishing long jobs.

Gotten help a few times, couple GOOD locators, couple ok ones, and a couple newbies. I CAN'T get stuck with a damage on this as long as it's in the notes who helped, which is one of the reasons I don't mind newbie help, plus it's good exp for them. This is on cluster locates, long simple stuff I just do myself if I can. Just easier to deal with it as long as it's simple.

Tell you what, I am gonna go make dinner for my kids, while I am away, try to think of an intelligent argument about what makes me the pig. I don't post pictures on the internet of people I don't like. I don't spread rumor and heresay about people on the internet. I don't try to hijack a professional forum about utility locating with my own personal agenda. And if I am a pig, at least I can spell, puctuate, and form a proper sentence which conveys a clear idea of what I am trying to communicate to others. Oink!

Given cluster type locates, I prefer to work with our field supervisor and she with me. We know each other well and can get shit done pretty quickly.

As a side benefit, she leaves me alone as far as audits are concerned because as she says "I know exactly what to expect from you and know you do things properly"

On long, simple locates, I just prefer to do them myself.
