Just a locator here too... but someday.... maybe more....
Vice President, Principal Owner...manage business operations for our One Call, SUE, Mapping, CADD and 3D Radar operations.
Started out of high school as a surveyor helper, went to college part-time, got my Engineering Degree (took 8 years for a four year degree), worked my way up from survey helper, to pipeline inspector, locator, manager and so on to Ops Director in 1998 to partner & VP in 2004.
So please don't ever think I am one of those "never been there", "never done it" suits, I got mine by getting it done.
Was a supervisor now just a regular Ground Pounder
Just a regular type locator (is there an irregular locator...don't answer that spray)
Though if my employer had their way I would be in the front office...no thanks been there done that, got the T-shirt...
I like being in the truck in the field, dealing with the contractors (have built a relatively positive relationship with most) and enjoy working with the nubees...makes this old guy seem wanted...
Yea I know, suck it up buttercup!
Success is a journey, not a destination...
Dadgummit! I hate to be denied an opportunity like that![]()
I might not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was !
It's better to be Pissed Off than Pissed On or Stood On and Pissed Off Of !

ELM Locating & Utility Services strives to incorporate safety and accuracy into every locate performed. Our Safe Worker of the Year award is one of many programs designed to do just that by providing every locate technician who goes accident free for a quarter an opportunity to win a new Ford Ranger. We congratulate Jose Luna from our Denver office as our 2007 Safe Worker of the Year. He'll soon be driving his very own brand new Ford Ranger, with thanks from ELM for setting a strong example of the importance of safety in everything we do.
