sexual harassment in a male dominated profession

We were told today that we have to attend sexual harassment classes, so I'm just kinda wondering whats going on in this very predominately male profession, that they (mgmt.) think we need classes.

P.S. this is meant to be funny and in no way is meant to offend or make fun of gay people

Holy crap. We had to do that stuff back in the 80's.

Anyway, surprised at the ratio of men/women. Here in our company it is closer to 50/50.

I always found those classes odd.

For instance: Doing this job 99% of a Locators time is spent ALONE. Granted we have interaction with homeowners and contractors but for arguments sake we spend most of our time by ourselves. When we do have interaction with our coleagues it's at some form of meeting where we smoke and joke until the meeting actually gets going. My point is does management think we are so cavemanish that during our brief dealings with female employees that we will say or do innapropriate things that may offend the sensibilities of others? What happens when it is management who engage in this type of activity?

Don't mistake TRUE sexual harassment for this PC laden bullshit that gets thrown around in todays world. TRUE harassment should never be tolerated.

I miss the good ole days when people minded their own FRIGGIN BUSINESS if they overheard something that DIDN'T CONCERN THEM. Too much crap gets bundled into this type of allegation, then we (men and women) walk around in fear of what we say or what we do when we are near others. It's a joke and a way for the company to exalt themselves from liability if they employee acts retarded.

I've had the sexual harassment training, Ethics training, and "working for the man" class.

I do recomend one thing..... during the sexual harassment training, Do not ask about the proper way to dispose of a dead hooker.....

I'm just saying, some people don't have a sense of humor about things.

and it will go into your employee folder.

and depending on how hard you laugh is weather you get company enforced therapy.
