    Default How many hours.

Well it is obvious everyone is comfortable with different amounts of overtime. I thought I would do a poll asking what is the average hours you like or need during dig season.

I know I like to average around 60-65 hours a week during the dig season. I work in a cold weather state so I get a good break in the hours during the winter so I don't mind the heavy hours during the dig season.

I would like 45-50, unfortunately I'm doing 55-60 and have been since April 1. Oh well, extra $$ for the old lady to spend.
I might not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was !

I am the same way, winter is pretty slow, so ot in the summer months sort of evens things out.

I do really like the money from the overtime but I am really looking forward to my vacation. I take the third week of July off every year and go to a very rustic campsite.

Man I miss those days. When I was much younger, I used to go up in to the Canadian Rockies; somewhere remote, like a hanging valley and park my butt for a few days with some friends. Most days it was so quiet you could hear your ears ringing.

On my 40th birthday we hiked up to a hanging valley called Ribbon Lake and fished for several days. The water is sooo cold year round that the lake trout actually had dark pink flesh (almost the color of salmon). They were AWESOME eating.

That year (in June) it ended up snowing us in and we had to have the park service repel us out as the cliffs were covered in a heavy layer of ice and snow. Avalanches were occuring everywhere but no where near us. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life.

Memories I will have for years to come!

Gee now.. what I would LIKE and what I DO are two different things! I love to start very early in the morning to get my work done & to beat the heat... there are a couple of us like that... only problem is... I get done early and have to turn around and help out someone else who didn't start until like.. 8 am... and I still don't get home until after 6 pm most days or later... maybe I should just start later and be like everyone else. It doesn't matter what I get done... always more is expected....

I thought I was crazy because I like 60-65 hours a week. I can't believe there's locators out there that like over 70 hours a week.

I would prefer more than I am getting. We are averaging 45 -50 hrs a week right now.

We have switched over to 30 day locates from 14 day so that is having an impact on our numbers I suppose.
