ViVax is basically a "spin-off" of several former Radiodetection employees. When they left RD, they signed non-competes. When those expired, Andy Hoar, Mark Drew, Kelvin Cherrington, and many other former RD employees started ViVax (or became involved with the company). I had heard that ViVax was purchased last year (maybe even late 2007) by the same company that owns Metrotech. I looked at their equipment at the CGA conference a couple of weeks ago, and have set up a demo with one of their people in Virginia in the coming weeks.
We are currently demo'ing the RD8000 and getting pretty good feedback. As a former RD employee myself, I have a bit of a biased opinion, but I have always believed the more options you have in a machine the better your techs will perform. However, you better make sure that the tech is properly trained on what limits the machine has, and more especially what the machine will not do.
Anyone interested in ViVax PM me and I will facilitate contact with the right people. Mark Drew might have had a hiccup as we are all prone to have on occassion, but he is one of the straightest people I know.
