    Default Flushable Sonde

Anybody used one of these, I got a Prototek FT8 512hz disposable sonde, works great but not prepared to loose it so tied a traceable string on it & pulled it back up. Supposed to be a throw away item when battery goes dead - anyone tried cutting it open & replacing battery ??

Ive never used one but from reading Protek's website they give you $5 the next one you purchase if you recycle the dead one back to them..

Which to me sounds like all they do is put a new case and battery on it..

For $32, Id probably just leave it in the sewage...

Cool idea though.. it would stop at a blockage allowing you to locate it. Not as good for locating the line (unless you can locate as fast as the water and sonde travel through the pipe..)
(May you live in interesting times)

Forget $32, they are $80 here, I tie mine on with Electric fence string, Direct connect TX to string & locate away , Pull it back out & your good to go .
One idea I have yet to try is steel Model Airplane control line wire spooled onto a fishing reel !!

sure, they work great. use some 150# test braided nylon and a reel. you can make a capstan if you reel out enough wire and have a lot of running h2o, like in an ag irrigation supply line.
