I know a guy that got in a little trouble using a cheater clip on an air cable. The drop in pressure set off the alarm.

I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.
LoL .. love it. (I do the air pressure design/build/repair on our stuff too)
Wonder if the guy actually tried some chewing gum at least.. hehe
Ya, good idea not to pierce underground cables.. they probably do have air. Some telco's pressurize aerial and buried/ped cables also.. although I cant see it being cost effective. If you cant clip to a splice case or etc, then just put the inductive clamp on it.
I'd think piercing should be just used on service wires.

Character is what you are in the dark. It is the things you do, when nobody can see, and nobody will ever know, that define who you are as an individual.

Just use a bed of nails clip and hook to pairs. By the time the phone guy gets out there you will be long gone and the customers phone will be working again.
We just finished the R&D phase of a new product we have been working on. It's called the CartMarker. It attaches to a Ground Penetrating Radar Cart and with the flick of a lever on the cart handle, a paint dot or stripe can be applied as you roll over the target. We have applied for a patent and hope the product goes as planned. We have models to fit most any manufactures GPR's, but I am partial to Mala Geo Science.

You'll have to keep me posted on that one. I have the MALA with the rough terrain cart...
