Default The Pipe Horn -its tenure as a love and hate locate device - and its unrelenting stigma -

I believe as much as is highly praised about the pipe horn there is, and always will carry with it a notoriety that will elude any mass market rollouts into the hands of many locators primarily in the contract locate industry. It is sad that the high freq. produced even though it now joined with the lower had lent to so many questionable inductive damage scenarios that its bad rap will never be dismissed.

Yes you pipe horn live on in all your fame and discredit...

Again... your insight seems to be misguided.

It is not the equipment that has created these damaged scenarios, it is solely operator error. You are correct in your assertation that the Pipehorn will never be the "show Pony" of the contract locating firms, but it is not because of its "Questionable inductive Damages". It is solely based on the fact that the locate companies believe that the more bells and whistles on locating equipment lowers the damages. If the reciever can pick up 15 different frequencies and 6 Passive frequencies... there should be no reason a locator can not locate anything.

I believe that if you properly trained locators to use induction, (emphasis on properly train) their at fault damages would dwindle. The damages recieved when people induce are predominately because of inadequate training.

Dude, I'm pretty sure usic1 calls his pot pipe a "pipe horn".

When he made that post he was hitting the "pipe horn" pretty hard... Mke had to swing by and make sense of it all and try to save the thread.

The pipehorn ain't for beginners. You have to know how to use it. Like Mke said: the pipehorn has never caused a damage the person swinging it is responsible for the damage. They should be properly trained on using the pipehorn and until that happens they need to leave it alone.

However, it should be noted that USIC1 doesn't contribute to be a useful member of the forum. His post was only meant to cause problems. So, anyone who thinks he may have a point should reconsider.
