    Default Utiliquest

Just saw this on the news. Utiliquest is shutting the doors in the Charlotte NC office which covers most all the state because they lost the Duke Energy contract. They report that the doors were already closed. No word on who got the contract. Anyone know who got it.

Here is the news story on it. Go to the website to see the video.

They said they couldn't say yet who got the contract but they will be providing the same service at a lower cost.

USIC out bidded Utiliquest. Utiliquest was getting about $5 per locate and USIC will be locating Duke Power for a clip board, a #2 pencil and a bag of M&M's.

That, unfortuantely is the way USIC does business. They lowball their bids on contracts, and then force their locators to work even more tickets per hour in order to make up for it by working harder. STS did the same thing when they won the Sprint contract in NC back in 2003/2004....

at least here in the chicagoland area, usic has just lost the north shore sanitary district (nssd) contract. the ended up rebidding and over bid by $30,000 and it was not renewed for them. ha ha ha hopefully more to be taken away from them real soon.

The Company can do 10 way locates, they say that's how they make $$$ on the reduced overhead. Hell, lets make it 15 way locates! Better get at least 18+ per 8 or your gonna get kicked to the unemployment line.
