Best bet is to give them a call. Maybe you weren't in the running, but they may have had a no-show. Calling will show you want the job.

    Good luck.

I have called (one week after) and was referred back to the talent agency. I take my jobs seriously & do go above & beyond. Its just frustrating.

Someone mentioned hardwork and dedication and you could possibly be looked at by companies that would never give you a second look. Curiously what kind of choices do you have to move into from locating??

Every time you communicate with a contractor, a utility rep, a city employee, or a business owner who calls 811, you are making an impression on them. Make yourself memorable to them by keeping them informed and responding to their inquiries. Once you've been in the field for some years, these guys will know who you are and whether you are dependable, honest, and accurate. This is true even if you work for a less than reputable 811 contractor.

Keep their contact info in your phone. When you find yourself looking around for who in your area is hiring, you will recognize the companies you have worked with. Look up who your contact was for that company. Contact him directly and ask permission to use his name as a reference. If he has any respect at that company, his good word could go a long way. Most new hires can barely get to work on time and are a waste of effort to crew leaders and HR staff. Even if locating experience isn't needed, a respected foreman will know if you are a quality, dependable worker and may be glad to have you on his team.
