Eastern Locating

Can anyone give me information on Eastern Locating? Are they a good company to work for? How does the management team fair? Do they work in any other state other then New York?

Small group only in NY.
Pay is by prodction,Hi Benefit costs, you get $80 gas debit card for the week, go over & you pay for gas. Basic Locate equipment is purchased (810)
i think they have been around for a while 10 + years

I heard they just bought out Protek and got thier Hudson area gas and electric contract.

a fuel debit card? pay by production? Seriously?

That was the Benefit sheet they provided in meeting. Strange way to run a company.

Pay by production like piece rate? $80 gas debit card per week? Can they do that? If you are required to drive from job site to job site, I would think that they would either reimburse you for gas or mileage at the IRS rate if you had to use your personal vehicle or pay for your gas if you are using a company vehicle. It's not like this job requires you to work out of an office every day. So if you go over, you have to pay for your own gas? Are they paying their locators $25-$30 an hour because I would think that is what you might need just to get by. High benefits costs?

Sounds almost like Linderlake Corporation, where they want you to use your own vehicle and cell phone. But, Linderlake supposedly pays pretty well. All thier locating jobs are mostly temporary though.

they pay by the ticket...i think i heard that the locators get $6 to $7 a completed ticket...no matter what the size of the job.i cant understand the gas process either. something sounds screwy there.car would be parked if tehy didnt provide me with gas to complete tickets

Linderlake used to pay 175.00 per day and you got a couple dollars extra for use of your cell phone. Pretty much crap. Of course if you worked 4 hours you made out great. 10 hours? Not so much.

$175 per day over 5 workdays is $875 per week, and $15 per hour at 50 hours per week is $825, roughly similar. Wouldn't be so bad unless you had to pay your own gas driving 100-200 miles per day, then yes I would agree with you it wouldn't be such a great deal.
