    Default Consolidated Utility Services?

    What's the skinny on CUS?

I saw that they're hiring in Clorado and I have friends who want to get all the info they might need to know about them.

    What's a normal starting pay?

    Issues within their work force?

    Vehicle policy?

    Overtime?

What contracts have they picked up?

Heres a good example. It may vary a little across the country, but in NC:

New to locating: 10.00 an hour. Located in the past: Alot more then 10.00 an hr.

Really no issues. The company ethos is teamwork. So basically were one big family and help each other out on big locates all the time. Never seen this kind of teamwork at the work place until I started locating with CUS.

Vehicle policy is use your work vehicles for work only. No GPS, no idol mechinism to detect idoling. No software to shut your laptop down when your truck is in drive. The new Dodge Calibers have satellite radio in them standard.

Your guaranteed 40 hrs unless its like Janurary-March. Anything after 4 pm is overtime and to work over is optional. If you want to get your area caught up that day and make some extra money, then you can work over.

Currently, speaking for NC, AT&T from Statesville east. AT&T all in the south (Charlotte/Mecklinberg area). Piedmont Natural Gas, Lexcom, Energy United, Verizon (Raleigh/Durham area). Used to have Time Warner, but they managed to get Synergy One to do it for like 3-4 bucks a locate. Of course this was on the nature of 10 years ago or more.

Who can live on $10 an hour? You can make about that much in fast food.

I guess they believe we all are unskilled labor

I interviewed with CUS about a year ago in the midst of a contract swap. At the time I was around $19.50 with 11 yrs exp. with 5 way tickets in an area that they were in desparate need of experienced help. The man who was conducting the interviews looked at my application and turned to me and said laughing " I can assure you that we will not pay you that kind of money and I cannot believe that anybody would pay that kind of money to a locator". I was offended to say the least. I am not saying that this is the norm for them but that is what I was told on that day and this was just my personal experince.
