Hey everybody, I wanted to let you know about an upcoming opportunity with us for a Damage Prevention Locating Specialist.
Right off, let me say that this is probably the best job I have ever had, and it could be the same for one of you.
We locate Gas, Electric, H2o, Waste Water, our own Fiber, as well as anything you can imagine on our own facilities/plants.
Our management (former locators) believes in providing us with the best tools and equipment to do our job right.
Management also has our back. As long as we do our job to the best of our ability, we never have to wonder if we will be supported.
Our company has not ever laid off an employee so far, and it is a very old company as far as utilities go, think 75+ years. Tesla provided the city with power way back in the day.
We are a municipality, meaning that we pay into PERA for retirement. Health benefits are awesome, my last doctors visit only cost $35.
Best of all, we are not concerned about profits. Our locating department is concerned with protecting our customers, contractors, and infrastructure. This translates into being concerned about accuracy, not speed and quantity of work completed.
Now, as to the job itself: This position is not going to be for a beginner. It is for the locator who is confident that they can locate nearly anything, and can back it up. This position will locate Emergency Locate requests, perform damage investigations, and help out wherever needed. There may be additional projects, meetings, and ...um stuff, that you may have to do as part of the job.
Keep in mind that you will be joining a crew that have, for the most part, been locating for somewhere near a decade if not far longer.
Why am I posting like this, instead of waiting for the posting to go on the locator jobs? Because as a municipality we always have to post our jobs in the same manner through our web site.
The job posting will most likely go up on Monday. When it does I will post a link to it.
If you are an awesome locator, and want a good salary, benefits, job security, and would consider moving here, please consider applying. I would love to work with you.
