And you sir, deserve that 10K for having the balls to state the truth! We have a few sups here who care about teamwork who have stepped up to provide true leadership, but the majority of our Chicago sups are strictly old school "butthuggers".

The basic requirement for being a supervisor at SMP is the willingness to bend over and grab your ankles. About three years ago one of senior members of my old team, and the one that EVERYONE had the utmost respect for, was turned down for the supe's opening because, at least IMOHO, he was not willing to bend over and grab his ankles. He wound up resigning and things haven't been the same since.
Chicagoman this is nothing new they been doing it for a long time the reason behind the 10,000 is all supervisors have to sign a contract with the company not to jump ship to another locating company for 4 years , so would you want to be a supervisor if you had to sign that and not get nothing for it NOOOOO
so in order to have supervisors that stay they have to do that, do I belive that the 10000 is worth the headache Hell NOOO!![]()

Ok, Being an X-supervisor (will never do it again) I will say that I busted my ass for my guys only to be stabbed in the back and given a demotion. I call that day my demotion/promotion day because it is the best thing that could have ever happened to me LOL!!!! I figured up my hourly wage after doing all the B.S. that they wanted us to do and also (one of the few) going out and running tickets and helping my techs. And based my $45,000/year salary was about $3.15/hr so when I was given the opportunity I ran with it. Oh and FYI this was in Illinois....
And I also almost took a job in Tulsa as a sup just to get back closer to Kansas while in Illinois and will say for a fact that its a shit hole to locate in. Everything is rear easement H2O, Gas, Sewer, Phone, CATV, etc.... They cant keep anyone as a supervisor down there and Im glad I never took the job....
a 10,000 dollar sighn on BonusThat just says......Things are really screwed up down here...You need 2 years minimum experience because we have no time to train you.....They need a drop and go supervisor.And you need to forget any extra time. SM&P will be your new hobby.... Most locators will make more than the 10,000 dollar sighn on bonus in overtime through the summer alone. It would be a very very stressful time for a while. Depending on staffing and tenure could be a real stressful time. Good luck to whoever takes it.

If the $10k really pisses you off so much, APPLY FOR THE JOB ALREADY AND BE DONE WITH THE GRIPING!
Or better yet- get a hold of the DM in OK by name of Brian Eggen and ask him what he & Lewis were thinking when they made this offer. Perhaps they wanted to offer the money to get an out-of-stater to come down there and help? And that's just me guessing here.
GEEZ! There are worse things to worry about, starting with getting your tickets done without a damage. Do you LIVE in Oklahoma? Plan on MOVING there any time soon? NO? Then WHO CARES what they do!

And you know damn right that they will have a clause in there that says they wont get the full 10K for about 7yrs....

Was just in Tulsa area this week-end- 1 of 72 out-of-area locators that came in to help. I believe they already have at least 2 of the 3 supervisors they needed. I think they said they had hired over 40 new locators this year. Not really a shit hole down in Muskogee but the 0 Lot line BS ain't much fun and about 25 3-way locates aer all I could handle. The main problem is the gas - ONG - tracer wires about every 10th house and virtually 1 Test Station per sub-division. Sorriest gas plant facilities I have ever seen. Everyone says we would be better off to lose the gas contract and I believe them.
However, after it was all said and done, came out about $150 up at the Casino and a buddy won over $500!![]()
