We just demo'd the 8100 and 7100. The GPS logging and bluetooth is still not a real everyday use feature(Besides the novelty of trying it, just to say we tested it, in 3 weeks I never found a need or use for it.) The harmonics frequencies on the power foes allow you to run different circuits of electric by the different harmonics, but you still run CATV mains and Telco trunks on the harmonics as well with no way to tell the difference without hooking up. I still find the power 60 modes on the Vivax and the Rigid to be better at only running actual power and not CATV and Telco. Same weight of the 8000. I couldn't suggest we actually choose the 8100 over the 8000. The price is very high for the features. Bonus is that the receiver is lighter than Vivax by a huge difference.

Just noticed the best new feature of the 8100 series based on the video.

FINALLY, radiodetection is including an automatic gain/sensitivity control. It's a new locating mode called "guidance" and is only avaible with the new units. Because the new units supposedly use 5 antennaes total, and Guidance claims to use 4 of them total - 2 horizontal, 2 vertical.

So you can finally get your automatic gain control on mid level frequencies, and not be forced to use a verifier g2.

You might be able to do it on 65khz and 45khz roughly as well. And use a single clamp for all of your needs, unlike verifier g2 by mclaughlin.

Pretty cool, offers a reason not to use the vm-810 anymore, at for hook up line locating at least.

found a site online that offers the rd8100 for $5,850.00 new so that is definitly pretty pricey just to get that feature though.
