I put this on the 'vine after hearing we are getting calls from people at Verizon, Comcast and Cox TV asking how they could send donations.

S&N is matching all donations made by their employees. I do not know if matching includes our subsidiary Stake Center Locating.

Very sad to hear. I am constantly aware of traffic around me when I'm working and I've become that little ol' lady driver. I don't want anything like this to happen to me.

Although his accident wasn't work related, it is a reminder to all locators that at anytime we could become the victim of a drunk driver or even a distracted driver. We should all be 100% aware of all traffic around us at all times.

So far this is what we got about the accident.

A man and his wife were riding in a Ford F-350, the man driving. The woman was drunk and arguing with her husband, grabbed the wheel and jerked it causing them to crash into a guard rail. She then grabbed his cell phone and threw it out the window. When he got out to get the cell phone she got behind the wheel and drove into traffic striking Terry's car. She then tried to drive off and jumped the median strip but tore open the tires stranding her there. It took three police men to pull her from the truck as she refused to get out, resisting arrest. It is said she was laughing and saying that man is not really hurt, that her husband made $100K a year and if they put her in jail he would get her right back out. She was denied bail. Prosecutor said they are going for 12 to 15 years on this. She is supposed to have two or three prior DWIs.

Unfortunately most auto insurance policy's only cover up to 100,000.00 for injuries so the Baker family will need all the monetary help they can get. I'm sure the Baker family will sue the party involved and the insurance company but that will take years to settle as I know from experience. Thoughts and prayers go out to Mary and the rest of the Baker family.

Typically its 50k per person and 100k per accident. Hopefully, they have a good lawyer and the other guy has tons of money. (But not too much to afford a good lawyer)

Reminds me of the Mike Birbiglia stand up about his accident.

He lives out by front Royal and was injured in that area. As soon as they could they moved him to the hospital in Fairfax which could provide the care he needs.
