I am new to cable locating and need some advice. I have a prototek Line Finder 2200 and a 100mm induction clamp. I can trace main distribution cables down the footpath but and having trouble tracing the 2 pair lead in cables to the house which is only ten or twenty metres away. What equipment or technique should i be using please help.

Are you talking 2 pair telephone drops? I never heard of 2 pair lead electric cables. If it is a telephone drop your talking about then alot of time they are not bonded at the house. The best way to do this would be to direct connect at the house and make sure the drop is bonded in the ped. If you are talking about the electric secondary to the house your best bet is to get it from the house tracking it back to the ped or transformer. Hope this helps.

    P.S. Welcome to thecablevine.

Hey Jeff - Welcome Aboard to the 'Vine. Please stay with us and post often.

Above is a photo of a guy using the English-made Radio Detection (RD) on a locate. (No. It's not a picture of me. I'm not that good looking and I try to keep my boots laced.) Check out the RD web site.

You blokes drive on the wrong side of the road. I found this wild 'n beautiful, supercharged, right-hand steering, caged 'n tubbed, 1968 Camaro at the Melbourne's Easternats Burnout Contest. WoW! Rear tires & rear brakes on fire! Then swinging the ass-end of the Camaro within centimeters of bystanders! This guy is the best showman I've ever seen!
