Cool hello from a ute locator in Brisbane, Australia

    G'day fellas,

I'm in the locating industry in Australia, and have come on here to get an international perpective on stuff and hear what's happening in the States-we seem to follow USA things, what with the draft australian standards that are in submission at the moment. Lot of similarities with ASCE38/02.
    Looking forward to contributing.
    cheers

Welcome from one of the infamous around here...

You would have to elaborate on the ASCE 38/02 ? maybe for most of us... never been kicked around here much...

All I can think of with Australia ( I only derive my resources from TV programming) is Kangaroos , hot weather, hot women, unsual landscapes, and creatures in areas less travelled...

One item of interest would be the dig laws established... Did I hear that the tolerance was 5' from the marks down there do to a learning curve???

    Welcome Moxy,

ASCE 38 here is the standards of sub-surface utility engineering (SUE). Are you doing SUE work or are you a locator for a utility owner or contract locating firm?

Welcome to the Vine and ask a question and you will get several answers.

I've been told that excavators down under have trouble back-filling because the dirt keeps falling out of the hole. Is this true?

    Hey, Moxy

Welcome to the site. We have other members on here from the great country of Australia. I haven't seen any recent posts from them but don't let that stop you.

    Post often.

We aren't so bad Boss Man, unless you mention Utiliquest or USIC, then they come out of the woodwork. Just avoid Locator056671243, he's about as nutty about USIC as they come.

And yes Locator0566378190, we all know how bad it was at USIC. Since USIC isn't in Australia you have nothing to add to this thread.
