Hello from Chicago with a question

Hi name is Mike, I have been IBEW for over ten years. This year I have only worked three months due to lack of work. That said I also replied to a USIC ad on craigslist. Later today I have an actual show up/face to face. My question; Is this outfit worth walking away from $536 a week in unemployment. Is there any overtime available? Paid hourly or by the ticket? I have done a lot of directional boring so I understand the gig. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Mike,

Pay is hourly and overtime depends on volume and area your in. It is this time of the year that we start slowing down and usually everyone is capped at 40 hrs until march (ish) when the volume picks back up.

if you can afford it ....stay on unemployment and get in around april of next year...good luck dude!!!!

I have been with USIC for quite a while and there has always been overtime. Like stated earlier this would depend on your area and ticket volume. In the midwest overtime is normally from April-Nov. and then the winter is either layoff or 40 hour weeks.

I'm sure you noticed but there alot of job openings in IL listed on locatorjobs.com.
