512 is more accurate, 819 is faster.

What kind of trainer did you have man? 512 is the best for not bleeding over, but it sucks. After a few years of experience, you'll develop an x-ray vision and you won't need all that 512, 819, ect. stuff.

whoa!! people locate without bleed off? On purpose?

I was going to say 83.0775 (which is on the spec sheet for the 810) but you gave the qualifying statement of no bleed off.

I use all of them. I will use 512 for a short congested area. My secondary freq is 8 or 33 with 33 you get bleed off. You have to find your nitch with experience.

Greetings microtek! Welcome to the Cable Vine! I am a Radio Detection user and have been since 1997. I cut my teeth on frequency 512 and still use it today on rare occasion. Frequency 8 (f8) is a very good induction frequency that I use 95% of the time. F8 tends to bleed off to utilities not hooked to if the "gain" is too high on the receiver. This phenomenon is true for any frequency used.

Noobs wrongfully equate receiver "gain" with receiver volume which can really mess with their learning curve. Keep that signal "gain LOW! Keeping the receiver horizontal to mother earth verses a round-house receiver swing, keeping the signal "gain" as low as possible regardless of the frequency used, use "peak" mode to dot out the target utility keeping the signal response as wide as the target utility, line out the dots on the return using "null" mode to verify the target utility is the key to success.

I wish you much success in this business and please post often!

Lol thats how it was for me when they first issued us our equipment, the first intructor i had never really corrected us about this or properly explained to us this. thankfully we had 3 instructors over the time of our training, so i got to see different approaches and techniques covering our training course.
