Default Wanted - Metrotech 810, Pipehorn, etc.

Looking to buy an 810 or 850 , as well as a pipehorn. Also looking for some curb box locators (880Bs, Schoenstats, etc.) . Let me know what you've got either here or via P.M.

A curb box is just a valve on a service. The locator is just a metal detector to find them because they are normally buried. I use a Rycom Magna stick.

Here's a used Sonstedt on the bay but it seems quite pricey

Not to pee on anyones cornflakes but I was a die hard 810er until i got my hands on the sure lock (a rare commodity) but I believe to be in the same price range...

The 810 now collects dust along with the 4000...

Next stop the pipe horn but since the sure lock incorporates the same frequency(all pro model) as the horn, and has automatic gain, I m in no hurry ...

I just sold one of my 810s i will never go back...I break out the 810 for direct connect applications on occasion because of familiarity and years of trusted use...

Cons-Only issue with a sure lock is no radio sad passive and a structurally weak reciever head which could break unless an after market reinforcing plate is installed...Mine has it...

Pros- ease of use, water resistant, rechargable transmitter, super light reciever, xtra high frequency( you dont know the pleasure until you have experienced it if you thought scanning with 81khz was the shit- it aint!!!)

Anyway dont spend to much on second class... Wait and go for the gusto...

810's do not use 81khz, you're close though.

USIC1, Funny that you mention the surelock, as I just got one last week from the local water authority. Only thing is, there were no leads, no clamp, and no charger. Ergo, I'm not sure it even works....... The receiver powers up, as I did put fresh batteries in it. Don't suppose you could give me the information off of your charger, could you? I have a bunch laying around that may be compatible, but don't want to fry the battery with the wrong one. Thanks ~2RUDE
