But sine you mentioned McDonalds; I have been dieting and it is possible at McD. I started getting two sausage muffins for breakfast, total 600 calories. Two regular cheese burger for lunch, again total 600 calories. Egg white mcmuffin also 300 calories. Once I got my stomach used to smaller meals cut down to one cheese burger one muffin per meal. Instead of two cheese burgers one mcdouble at 380 calories.

So far its been a hard road dropping weight and as I drop weight have to further reduce calorie intake. I skip breakfast and eat 'brunch' at 10:30 usually a mcdouble, a few hours later an apple , then a small 100 calorie pudding cup to keep the sweet tooth tamed, a sandwich of meal/tomato & onion with a 100 calorie side of popcorn. Total of about 1100 calories a day.

So today am at 220 lbs. Down from 260 lbs last April.
Looks like some watchdog group got after McDonalds for under stating the calorie content of their food. They have been slowly updating their menu items. The 300 cal muffin with sausage over night jumped to 400 calories, the sausage / biscuit from 300 to 460 cal. Looks like changes to most items.

Havent seen anything on net as to how this happened.

Net search finds old articals from a year+_ with the correct calorie amount. Looks like the franchise operators have been lying on their menu boards, got caught by someone ( I doubt by McDonald's corporate as they do not seem to enforce any standards).

Greetings Mark! It is interesting you focused on a pork chop and mashed tater dinner. Last Friday was date night for me and the Mrs. We ate at the closest one of three Stroud’s Restaurants located in Kansas City to my house. Instead of ordering their fantastic, pan-fried chicken, I ordered their thick-cut, garlic-buttered, grilled pork chop with 2 jumbo breaded shrimp, family-style mashed taters & green beans ($22.95). Mmmm, Mmmm Good!

When NASCAR has their events here in K.C., the Goodyear corporate folks and its blue-collar, sub-contractor workers LUV eating at my Stroud's Restaurant. In 2006, I, with 14 of my fellow tire workers, had supper at the original Stroud's at 85th and Troost, Kansas City, MO (yes, it is in the Kansas City ghetto). We got a table inside the main dining area next to the upright piano with a guy that played it very well. My buddies in attendance, primarily rowdy east-coasters & rowdy west-coasters, got the manager to sit at our table and share his story about Dale Earnhardt Sr. eating at his restaurant. The food, the manager, our waitress and the piano player were great all night and we felt like we just made some new friends. We were the last to leave the establishment sometime after 11 pm.

The next morning we all met at our hotel's restaurant for breakfast before we headed for the Kansas City NASCAR track. One of our Stroud's attendees from the previous night opened the morning's newspaper and on the front page was the news that the original Stroud's Restaurant, where we ate, was overnight burned to the ground!

The timeline suggested the kitchen fire started moments after we walked out the front door. The building was razed and re-opened 2008 in the high-rent district on the Kansas side of the Kansas/Missouri state line.
