Tampa & St Petersburg

In about two weeks I will be in the Tampa / Saint Petersburg area of Florida.

Any good info on local places? Where to go, where to avoid?

While I am there I am going to check out the various locate firms.
Anybody know what the environment is down there for a locator?

most of the time...the further south the hotter...

the sun gets like you could reach out and touch it...

dont forget some shades...

Right now there are having unseasonably cold weather. About two weeks ago I spoke with my brother and he complained it was 55 F outside so he could not do yard work.

He wants me to move down there but I don't think so. He says St. Pete is real nice with ocean breezes keeping it nice. But I looked on the maps and that area is just one big city merging with Tampa. Cities do not appeal to me.

As for working weather there is summer heat but the Maryland summers can also be bad. The only plus down there are the mild winters so that would be nice. Still living in a congested city does not appeal to me.

There is also the consideration of gators and snakes and God only knows what else one can run into locating down there. I must object to so many companies prohibiting locators carrying weapons. I mean call before you dig is the LAW, so should issued sidearms.

I am going down mainly to visit family I cannot see but once every few years. I'll humor his thinking I'll move there if it makes him happy. I'll spend a day doing his yard work and maybe another day painting his house. He is in ill health and could use a hand. His health is an issue to the point where this could be the last time I see him so I want to make the trip.

As long as I am there I will check out locating firms to sort out what is rumor and what is fact. There are people up my way that are curious I can bring the info back too. I am a locator, if I can confirm something with a first hand observation I am going to do it.
