Heading to the Track........

Tuesday afternoon, March 31, I will be flying to Ft Worth, Texas for the NASCAR race there. Wednesday I will be at the Speedway at 7 am ready for a workout. I know I worked with most of the guys in Vegas less than a month ago, but it sure will be great to see them again. The weather may be an issue on Friday next week (60% chance of showers). That will be my first long day at the track so who cares? I won't melt......

Rain is such a hassle because we can't mount new tires on wet wheels. We always bring a case of blue paper shop towels to the track. Inside our garage area, 2 or 3 grunts will get to wipe the mounting surface of the wheels dry with these towels before they get handed to the tire mounters. The wiping job really sucks on rain days. The stackers and wheel guys, who work outside of the garage, get drenched also. Not cool....... Hopefully, the Dallas/Ft. Worth weather guys are as accurate as my Kansas City weather guys. Always wrong.....

As always, I am anxious for the roar of open-exhaust race cars! Whooo Hooooooo!

I'm taking the next few days off to start another NASCAR season with Goodyear. I've dealt with a cold & wet 2009 fall season and a freezing cold & snowy winter. My "Rosey-Red" butt cheeks are looking forward to the warmer weather out west. This Tuesday, 16 February 2010, I'll be in the Los Angeles, California area for the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup races at Fontana. I'll pair up with 42 of my buddies to mount 4,400+ radial race tires on the race team's supplied wheels for this weekend's events. Then we pack up the tire machines, balancers and tools in semi's for a road trip to Vegas for the races there the following weekend. This is a working vacation for me that I enjoy year after year.

Today, I'll be working in a snowy, 16 degree day with gusty 25 mph winds! Tomorrow, I'll be basking in temperatures in the 70s, watching the west coast Hotties w/o jackets (maybe catch a close-up of Danica) and listening to the bark of professionally-tuned, open-exhaust race cars. This I will be doing every day of my vacation!

I also will catch the World of Outlaws winged sprint cars at Vegas next week. Whooo Hooooooo!

There might be lot of snow this year , better have a check on weather system .

Hey Basel - Thanks for the kudos! I've already gotten my airline tickets for this year's start of my working vacation with NASCAR. I'm flying into Phoenix, Arizona on February 22nd and returning home March 6th from Las Vegas!

NASCAR At Phoenix February 2011

I am working with the Carroll Shelby Enterprises Goodyear dealership to supply approximately 4,000 tires for the Phoenix 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway.

All in a Day's Work

Then the Monday after the Phoenix race, my fellow workers and I will ride in a caravan to Vegas.

NASCAR At Las Vegas March 2011

At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, my buddies and I will mounting 4,000+ tires for the NASCAR Vegas 400.

South Point Casino - Las Vegas

We stay at South Point Casino; a very nice Casino 6 miles south of "The Strip."

Jason Meyers - 2010 World of Outlaws Champion

An added bonus for me is I will be working 2 nights of the World of Outlaws winged sprint cars at the Vegas dirt bowl that is on campus of the Vegas Speedway during the Vegas Speedweek!

This will be a 13 day venture that allows an outsider like me to "Live the Dream." It's like I get a shot of 98 octane Sunoco right in my jugular vein during the dead of winter!
