Today I get a ticket, and in the contractors notes it reads "Cable tv above ground. Please mark cable" So, I painted it orange.
Does that make me compliant with their idiocy?

That's like when you get a ticket for mark a path along the entire staked route and they don't have it staked yet. What are you supposed to mark?
I like the tickets where there is about two paragraphs worth of marking instructions and they described their entire lot. If they need the whole lot marked call in "Mark entire lot". Why waste the time describing the entire lot in two paragraphs.
Well, asking who the idiot is can have several answers.
The one-call centers are at the top of my list for allowing this stupid crap to continue.
Some of the tickets I get are entered directly by contractors through the OCC computer system. I love those, all kinds of spelling errors wrong street names and cross streets listed, and sometimes even the wrong county, city and even STATE, yes that is correct WRONG STATE.
Then I get tickets from a contractor for one of the corporate giant type power companies that wil say something like the following:
"Marking Instructions: Locate from pole ABC123L following flagged path to new meter base on house; locate entire property/properties and any and all utility easements, DIS ABC1234L"
Okay, so which one do I locate???
"No, installing your fence is NOT an emergency"...
- or -
"It's call BEFORE you dig, not AFTER you've hit something."
Yes, my avatar does describe my attitude towards many others...
my cable drop tickets all have that on the ticket..........locate catv ...and i mark for att!!!! love marking those cable drops on top of ground orange...feel sorry for the guy that has to retrieve those tv drops......ha!!!!!
wise men talk because they have something to say and fools because they have to say something....plato
On several occasions, when I've gotten tickets that ask to "locate entire existing fence line", I've thought to knock on the door and let the homeowner know I was able to find their fence for them.
My boots may be red but I'm no clown.
I love the one where the contractor calls in the restake and says, "please restake phone due to unclear markings". I get on site and there is in orange capital letters CLEAR. With a flag saying clear with the date and ticket number. Hell I have it spelled out on the ground. Then the homeowner has to come out and get mad that his phone isn't marked. So I went in the back, extended my paintstick upward and sprayed his phone drop, while he was looking of course. I then told him that would be a little difficult to flag, and then left.
STRESS: The confusion created when one's mind overrides the body's basic desire to choke the living daylights out of some idiot who desperately deserves it.
I love the contractor that calls in 70 Locates due in 48 hours, and they have one crew that has to drive 4 hours just to get started in 3 counties.
Pool contractor calls in to locate entire property utilities are front of home pool in back why did I have to mark out the front easment if your installing the pool in the back??????????? fence contractor the same thing......
pool contractor calls the office completley off his nut screaming and cusing up a storm. Wants to meet with me on site. I go to the home listed on the ticket he was complaining about and no one was there, Waited about ten minutes for him when i get a call it was him screaming at me wondering where the "F*!K I was. I said BOB I am At the address you wanted marked "which was actually front easment air" turns out he had a liquid lunch and was at a home three blocks away!!!!!!......I do not miss those days too much...(Maybe a little).....Happy Thanksgiving....![]()
TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE BUT TOO FORGET IS STUPID
Check this one out.
Apparently we're supposed to dig it for them, too.
What's another word for thesaurus?
That is hilarious ColorBlind. Sometimes I think it would be faster to dig the hole for someones mailbox or birdfeeder than actually locate the area.
