Just wondering what everyone does with their empty spray cans? Does everyone just trash them? Or is anyone else saving them for scrap?

I put them in the trash when I can find a construction dumpster.
Throw them in a dumpster. The garbage companies don't even want them so I doubt the scrap yard would be interested.
I have a neighbor that takes them for scrap. Thats how he makes his living. Man he loved it when I tossed my appliances.![]()

I had a guy on a sewer job once that hounded me everyday for them...
He would extract the marbles for something... Maybe the kids....
I toss mine at the apartment dumpster...
At a meeting a long time ago I remember an issue over a fire starting in one those mobile trash compactors blamed on a spark from our paint cans...
When I was a kid I remember hanging out in the woods around a fire barrel and we would bring household aerosol whatever to throw in the barrel and wait for a variety of displays of explosive colors...
Hell kids dont even go out of there houses anymore so that isnt an option...I think lysol was one of the better colored explosions...One time we even had an oxygen tank we obtained through less than apopriate way and were trying to shoot at it with a high powered rifle from a distance to see what would happen...Then there were all the black powder experiments....

Target practice... or the dumpster.

They go in any trash recepticle we can find. As long as they don't end up on the ground somewhere, I am happy.

We have barrels at the office. When full, a recycle company comes round and empties them and I suppose crushes/sells the metal. Not a bad business, they charge us for a pickup then sell the scrap.
Success is a journey, not a destination...
Most of the time I put them in the dumpster at the office the others get chunked in the woods or contruction sites throuout the day![]()

I always try to pick up all my garbage, unless its a digup hole etc (hey, one landfill is just like the next..).
But, speaking of construction sites reminded me of one funny..
Im in this new subdivision doin tel locates for the gas co, and this one new can doesnt wanna release the ball from the bottom of the can. Now, Ive smacked em on the bumper of the truck before and that works fine.. but I was already away from the truck. Well, ya know how on sites theres always lots of 2x4 string-tie posts sticking out.. as I walk by I smack the can on the post.
Wouldnt ya know it, there just happened to be a nail (that they tie the string to) right there.. it went right thru the can. Instant orange leg for my jeans!!
I let the can finish spraying out, then i picked it up and brought it over to the truck got another can etc. Along comes the gas co rep, and Im explaining how my leg got orange. Of course, I grab the can to demo and when i get to the part about how you have to shake em up.. I actually shake the friggin can with the hole in it. Funny how much paint there still was. Got the other leg of my jeans with it.
Anyhow, to bring it around back to topic.. last i heard we were lookin about how to 'properly' dispose of the empty cans of paint.. since you're not supposed to put paint etc into the landfill.
(May you live in interesting times)
