    Default Time to locate?

How long does it take to on average locate per service?

Any 3 or 4 service locators?

How long for the different type of facilities(IE gas, h2o, elec, telco, catv, fiber)?

I have never found a firm answer. Go up and find the ped half buried, lots of fence lines to walk around, lots of bleed off.

Go up for identical single utility locate requests on two houses on 10,000 sf lots. One can locate in 10 minutes and the other takes over half an hour. Depends on what you are locating.

CATV is usually straightforward and fast, gas with tracer wire is quick if you don't have to dig up the wire, plastic gas with only metallic tape buried with may take longer and not be locatable at all. Electric tends to be easy and water and sewer on a routine suburban lot does not have much to it. Phone can be a pain in the butt with unbonding a lot of wires. If you have a small 25 pair main that dead ends in the ped that's easy enough. But if you have one main in and three mains out you may have to unbond and trace each one individually depending on the locate equipment you are using.

There are so many variables. From a ticket that is for a 10 foot radius of the home for an egress window to a fiber project that is 2 miles long. This depends if you have some aerial areas in your area or if every ticket needs paint sprayed. Some days you'll have a bunch of remarks that go quick or a bunch of sign tickets.

I would have to say in my area a two way area with phone and tv an average would be 20 minutes to do the job. And for a four way area with tel,tv,electric, and gas an average would be about 45 minutes to complete the job. These would be averages if you factor in clear tickets, easy tickets, and crappy long utility upgrades.

Assuming there's no hiccups, I typically shoot for a 40 minute locate in my 4 way area (gas, electric, phone, tv) on my single address stuff. I don't put a time limit on my longer jobs.
