    Default Is it summer yet?

I am so looking forward to summer. I'm making a list of things to do this summer. It'll be my 2012 bucket list. One thing on my list is gold prospecting. I live south of Idaho City which is known for its gold mining history. When you drive up there you pass large areas of 'tailings'. Large piles of rocks that were processed by the dredges. I plan on trying a little panning and possibly building a sluice box. They are too expensive to purchase.

I've been up there before but it has been years since I've panned for gold. I'm gonna try it again and this time take it a little more serious.

This video is outside of Idaho City. At about 1:15 the guy shows how far the piles go. They actually go for miles but you can't see that in this video.

Maybe if you are lucky you could get on the tv show "Gold Rush".

I like watching that show. I'm stunned when they don't realize certain basics about gold mining. You know, stuff like drilling for samples before doing a full excavation. I wonder what these people do during the winter. Are they glued to the x-box?

They should have spent the winter studying gold mining.

They have to be the dumbest, most unprepared bunch of grown men I know. I think they might work for USIC writing policy during the winter!
