Stayten to step down from the Indianapolis Airport Authority

Michael Stayton, president of the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) has announced his intention to retire in January.

In a letter of resignation to the Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Stayton said he will step down next month “for personal reasons” having served in the position for two years.

He said the January 2012 meeting would be his last.

In the letter to the Mayor, Stayton said: “I believe this is the right time for me to step down as both President and Board member. We’ve accomplished a considerable amount at the IAA during your first term in addition to effectively opening a great new passenger terminal.”

He also mentioned some of the airport's other recent accomplishments including the continued expansion of the FedEx regional hub and successfully keeping the authority's budget balanced through the economic downturn.

Appointed by the Mayor of Indianapolis to the Indianapolis Airport Authority board in January 2008, Stayton was elected president in April 2009.

Stayton founded the United States Infrastructure Corporation (USIC) in 2008 and currently serves as its president and CEO.

Maybe he needs to step down from a few other things. I knew he had to be involved in something other than USIC....

Back when CLS & SM&P merged back in 2008, you could tell by Stayton's emails that he was a snake in the grass, USIC will sell out in 2012. He promised you the world and then nothing happened. Utility Locating from the contract perspective is to make as much money as you can without regards to quality. You do not have the time to do a locate correctly. It is blow and go and get as much done as you can. If you are a utility owner then you are concerned with quality since the utility owner would have to pay to repair the facility.
I locate for two fiber companies and I look out for their OSP. I look for any problems that would cause them problems in the future even though I work for a contract locating company. It take a very unique type of person to do this type of work. This job is definitely not for everyone.
