    Default Speeding Tickets

    I haven't had a speeding ticket in about 20 years. All of a sudden I've gotten 2 in the last 2 months. 35 in a 25 (construction zone) and 65 in a 55 (also a construction zone)

Not too good I suppose especially when you drive for a living. Oh well. I'm gonna be a bit more careful.

That sucks @$$. Both my parents have had 2 tix in their lives (both in their late 60's) and all 4 came within a 5 month span when I was a kid.). Must be a lot of police PMS'ing out there.

I drive a company owned vehicle, so, if we get tickets they take the cost of the ticket off your cheque PLUS an administrative fee for the company to do all the paperwork. This is a stated requirement when you are hired on.

It's cut down a fair bit on tickets.

An amendment was recently passed by the government if you are tagged speeding through any construction zone (road crews, paving, etc.) when workers are present, the fine is doubled....OUCH!!!

About time too! I hate all the jackasses that zip past me when I am locating on/near a road.

I thought we were exempt from speed limits while in the work truck.

I had a very bad driving record as a kid. I lost my license 3 months after I got it and then proceeded to get 7 driving after revocations. It took about 5 grand and massive insurance premiums to get my license back. Now it's been about 12 years since my last ticket.

Excuse me while I find some wood to knock on.

So did you take these to court yet. Hopefully they dropped them for you. Or at least dropped the points and let you pay the fine.

This doesn't have anything to do with speeding but about 2 weeks ago I got rear ended twice in a week by kids who were text messaging instead of paying attention to the road. Thankfully I drive a 2500 HD with a class 3 trailer hitch, nothing to the truck but thier cars took a beating. No tickets, I felt bad because of their damage and didn't want my insurance to go up for a nothing claim. Pretty funny though to see their faces when I told them I was cool with it. I bet mommy and daddy werent too happy when they had to explain.

    Anyone remember this

I have had time to reflect on this a bit... but yesterday I was in a new subdivision expansion... had my cones out... vest on and was marking the sewer main & laterals when a truck came by and just about picked me off. I didn't even realize he almost hit me until the slight breeze I got from the truck (it was within 5" of me) got my attention and the truck swerved drastically to the left. You would think with all of the contractor trucks, the heavy equipment and delivery trucks that the driver would slow down and pay more attention to what was going on...

Does anyone know if we are considered the same as a highway construction worker? Here in IL if you hit one of them it is a hefty fine and jail.
