Looks like a front easement cul-de-sac. The street dept marked where the sign will go so other than a little heavy with the flags, it looks right to me. Not every sign install can be gravy.

I flag every mark i put down. Where im at they would call that sign in 4-5 times before actually doing it. Makes remarks a breeze

On another note. One of the counties I cover has been putting in signs since last June. They say at the bottom of the ticket "will be putting in over 4,000 signs in various locations through out the county please do not mark on any snow or tall grass that could be mowed". I think they have almost got it done but they are still calling in tickets. And the ones where there is utilities close they said screw it and are now going back through again. Im going to guess that they are in hopes of the utility no longer being there. Which my many flags, heavy, paint and solvent based paint has made my sign tickets easier than they already was. I mind you I only mark 1 fiber but when i was doing 5-6 way you would feel the burn from throwing all these flags lol..

Contract locating companies are very happy to see massive quantities of sign install tickets. Usually thier contracts with the utility company states they get paid a set price per locate ticket, and sign installs are normally easy.

I mean, think about it. 4,000 locate tickets with 3 contracts per ticket, let's say $30 per ticket then, that's $120,000 just for those signs.

And don't forget the low probability of a hit. Even if they drive the post down right on top of your marks, chances are they won't hit what's down there. Either they miss it by a few inches or they weren't going deep enough. If they do hit it, if it was marked within two feet, it's not our fault. I've seen a few sign post install hits over the years but only a very few. None except one that was never marked were charged to the 811 company and that was just a service line. Overall, they're quite profitable.

I like sign tickets. I get paid a flat rate per ticket so 30-40 sign tickets in my area means I only have to locate at the most 5 tickets. The rest is EZ money.

I can understand their concern but what are you supposed to do when the utility runs under snow or tall grass?

I didnt have a clue..I just painted on the snow/tall grass and flagged every mark...Like i told the contractor there is now way for us to mark it. We dont have time to shovel snow or clear tall grass. Exp if youre going to be calling in 4,000
