City of Augusta Ga, 2nd biggest city in Georgia, just placed an ad for a utility locator at $27,000 a year. And that's with 3 years experience preferred.

$12.98 for a 3 year tech, that is starting pay in many areas. Best see what the benefits are like if Medical is a small or no contribution and how much holiday and leave time you get.

Meanwhile, the local grocery store is starting clerks out at $15 an hour. Seriously, there's a sign at Aldi's right now. No call outs. I'm thinking we're in the wrong profession.

I'm sorry but with all the responsibility we carry every day, our jobs are worth so much more than that. I'm thinking next year I'm going to get back in school and see what greener pastures I can find.

I chuckled at the comment about Aldi's cashiers making $15 per hour. It's true, they do make something like that, and all they do is stock shelves and ring out customers.

I know guys out there right now, marking GAS!! AND telephone, probably the 2 worst utilities to be burdened with in the one call world, making less than that per hour.

Tell me that is not a travesty...

With 8 yrs exp. You can make more than 15-16 here in Ga. I know guys making that with 2 yrs. We are hiring tons of people here, they could use more exp guys instead of the boobs they are hiring now who will be gone by spring. That's if you wanna work for usic

Comm sux but as long as the tracers are good, gas is actually my favorite. Maybe that's cuz I started out on gas and had a decent host utility.
I'd have to give the distinction of biggest pain to water/sewer. A wise friend once advised me to stay away from it. Dam. Shoulda listened.

Wander if Mark or Jayce'd be willing to start a grunt out at $20+ guaranteed 40 year round. 401k plus vacation, all federal holidays, and a fat Christmas bonus. A Thanksgiving turkey would be nice but I'm a reasonable guy. I'm willing to compromise on that.
