Default Paint then Flag or Paint and Flag?

Well I normally try to take all the flags I need with me when locating a single address ticket but sometimes it seems like it would be faster just marking out the lot and then flagging it all at once at the end. It seems like I either take way too many flags with or not enough and wind up going back to the truck anyway.

    What does everyone else do?

    Golden:

I have three small pvc tubes taped to my paint gun. Carry red, orange, yellow flags with me generally.

I usually hook up, sweep to locate the power/phone, spray & flag at the same time. Do same for gas service & main. Usually find this goes quite quickly.

I like to mix it up and do a little bit of both throughout the day. You know, keep myself guessing.

    Ya I agree.

What I really hate though is when I pop awake at 3 in the morning wondering if I did such and such on a locate.

Damn, I hate those senior moments!

That's what happens to veterans. This job tends to get a little redundant even though it shouldn't. We remark the same spots so many times you wonder if you remembered to get that one crossing.

Usually flag while I paint. I have large hands and long fingers. I'll only flag after I paint if it's joint.

It just seems to me lately that it's quicker to go back and flag at the end when it's an all joint subdivision. I guess I just keep switching it up lately because I get bored.

I have 2 paint sticks; each has a pvc tube taped to the shaft- one for electric, one for gas. When I was with SMP, I would stick flags under my arm for short locates, in my belt loop for loooong locates.

Everyone I know uses their beltloops. I bust my beltloops quite often. The beltloops go before the knees in my work jeans.
