    Default Old Fasion....

    So, where I work, we still do our one-calls the old fasion way. The center faxes the tickets. We (me and one other locator) check the daily audit and route ourselves accordingly. I am the first one in the office so I alway filter through the tickets before the other locator comes in. This is the way it has been for years. If i'm off work, he filters through the tickets.

    I was off yesterday, and when I come in today......... low and behold...

    that "f" er didn't do any of the tickets yesterday........ none of them.

    sounds fine and dandy, but because we do them the old fasion way, I have 3 tickets due this morning.

    So much for the locator code of conduct (refering not purposely crapping on another locators work load".


    Other then Sup's re-aranging tickets on the new automated dispatch, Do you guys still run into these issues?

    Yes, that is a problem even with computer dispatched tickets.

    You are off a day for any reason. Your ticket load is broken up among other locators. But when you come back most of your tickets were never done while they got all of their own work done.

    Worse yet in areas where extensions can be had the other locators did not make the calls and get the tickets extended. So when the reports are compiled they show up as being completed late on your workload.

    Even worse the foreman does not get around to sending you back those undone tickets until after the day has started.
    Still worse they dribble in over several hours as they are taken from the work load of the various locators.

    We soon find out which of our fellow locators do not back us up and leave us hanging out to rot in the wind. They are usually the first ones to cry for help with a difficult locate or heavy workload of their own.

    It is not the dispatch system so much as locators who only look out for themselves and intentionally leave you in the lurch.


    Personally when I have to cover another's area
    I make every effort that those tickets are completed.

    we have a rule that we stand by firmly.

    when a ticket assigned out to another locator that locator is responsible to complete that ticket regardless if its that day or another but it doesnt go back to the original locator.

    This has kept such incidents from happening within our group. The sup and lead are firm on this and back us completely.

    at other offices .........if your sick for a day ...the next day when you come back all your tickets that you leave will be waiting for you the day you come back if 2 days off ...same thing if 3 days off same thing 4 days off maybe some of them will be done............but at our office we all take of each other....that problem will not happen !!!!
