Now Hiring Northern Indiana Gas/power Contract

OneVision has been awarded the gas and power contract for NIPSCO / NIFL in northern Indiana. Start date is 12:01am on June 29, 2009.

Please refer to our specific jobs postings on this site (locatorjobs.com) and in your local newspapers. We will be interviewing and hiring for approximately 40 positions, including Managers, Leads, Technicians, Damage Investigators, and Office Assistant (Dispatcher).

We have three offices set up: Crown Point, Plymouth, and Fort Wayne.

Interviews will start middle of next week (6-3-09).

You do understand our drug screening actually requires you to take a drug and then fill out a questionaire about the effects. Sorry, no Cialis or Viagra available...........

usic had this contract since 2000, Nipsco is a customer that you can never make happy, they used to be all about quality, now it's all about..... well you can add ur own thoughts here

I'm not trying to get off the point of the thread but does this mean some locators will be out of work or does it just mean they will have two less utilities to locate during the day?

We are only going to take on the gas and power for NIPSCO / NIFL. The techs that come on board will only be locating these two utilities. If we decide to pick up any additional utilities it will be with a separate workforce. This contract is fairly unique to us in that the Customer operates two utilities, but the power footprint is much smaller than the gas, so we made the decision to make this exception to our one technician-one utility philosophy. We plan on hiring heavy to provide the quality that we are known for, but will not wade in and decimate the existing workforce or interfere with the current service provider. We have offered a transition agreement to ensure that both parties can work toward the transition in an orderly fashion. Hopefully it will take some pressure off of the existing workforce as it has to be tough going out and locating every utility every day.

We will not stack a contract. Again, those that come to work for us will only be locating gas and power for NIPSCO and NIFL. Our team (including me) will be up there all next week interviewing potential candidates. If you are working for any other company we will accomodate your interview after working hours. Those that have submitted resumes will be contacted shortly to set up your interview.

Sorry that you had to hear it like this, but we have a tight deadline to meet and had no choice but to put it out there as soon as we were allowed to do so.

one tech, one utility.....smart but doesn't that cost a lot in manpower and all associated costs? Are the techs doing one utility ABLE to do more than one or are they purely labour for that specific contract? Unheard of approach here as faras I know. Your company must be big.

We have been able to convince a number of gas and power operators to see beyond the price and consider the value of as close to in-house as they can get. Our pricing allows us to operate under this model with a very modest profit, and all of our contracts utilize the one tech-one utility concept. Our damage ratios are insanely low, our focus is 100% on one utility, we rarely ever have a late ticket or no-show violation, and relationships with Operators, excavators, and regulatory entities have never been better.

We are pretty small in comparison to the major players, but we are gaining momentum. That being said, we turn away more business than we take on because we want to focus on critical service providers. We do not locate CATV or telephone on the public side of the company.
