    I'm looking for a NID tool that isn't so damn long...anybody know where to find one that is maybe 6 inches long and not 9?

    Everyones on different pages with locate jargon...


    We need a universal format in the locating industry...

    The world is on this track...

    It only makes sense...

    Its the answer to a more effective and productive environment...

    I looked around but couldn't find one. I suppose if you really wanted one, you could have it cut down and machined so that it is functional again.

    Okay... I found one. This says it is a 6" but the picture shows a 9".

    We have some that just "plug" into the end of your can wrench. I'll see if I can find them online.

    sorry for the confusion...NID, SNI, telephone security tool..so many terms! Thanks for the link but yeah it does look to be the 9". I also thought about machining the one I have but if I cut it the resulting shaft will be a regular 5/32 hex without the hole in the middle....what a stupid design!

    Yep that's what I was looking for. I know there are a few different styles like that. A little on the expensive side but definately nice to have all the tools in one.

    Well let me see who I feel is qualified to assign that task to perform...

    RD maybe???

    SOP for such task should incorporate a committee (chain of redundance) to elude the avoidance of backlash on any one individual in the decision process...
