Greetings f33! Looks like the contractor bit into the AT&T duct bank and knocked out the top of the package.

Man, that kind of hit sends a chill up Wingfoot's spine. The short cuts exercised on every locate performed by ol' Wingfoot makes him vulnerable to such hits daily. Not sayin' he's reckless. Wingfoot is confident all his locates are accurate and is proud to say his last high-profile at-fault on record was the repair of 120 pairs on a 1500 pair pulp cable in 2001. A lesson learned that has never been forgotten.

Hey thank you brother . Not at fault on this one thank god ... The contractor was originally going to run the new main on the other side of the street but the city made him run it on this side with 2 ducts because they didn't want the gas on the same side as the water main.

I'm mainly curious as to why it's run on an angle as compared to the ATT duct. Also, the picture cuts out where the 2 actually meet, so you can't see exactly what the damage is. That's why I was asking for the additional pics.

So there were 2 ducts coming out of a double manhole prior to this point both ducts were running between the street and the sidewalk so they ran the new main in the sidewalk. At the point were it was hit the 1 duct comes out of a manhole about a block away e and runs in the sidewalk. So basically they tried to cross the duct as it went into the sidewalk and run the new main between the sidewalk and the street were the duct that got hit was running before the manhole . Kind of a no win situation but better potholing may have prevented this.
