Metrotech 810

Okay, I have a complete Metrotech 810 transmitter and the 4820 clamp for it also. I was wondering if any one could tell me how to test the transmitter and the clamp to see if it works properly? I have new batteries in both units and they both power up fine. Any help would be appreciated.

best way to test it is to see if it locates... go hook up to a cable and follow it and see if its true

NOPE, not stolen. Just a find in a abandoned storage. I have everything, trtansmitter, receiver, a set of jumper wires, a 4890 clamp and case.

Okay, if it's going to be a big deal, then nevermind! I don't need to hear about everyone losses. I got a PS3 and a XBOX 360 stolen while I was on vacation in August. Any of your kids have either of these! Thanks anyways.

Relax Drag, hook it up to a simple utility service at your house, like your electric riser, telephone service wire or CATV service wire with the clamp and see if it locates the utilities correctly.

Two really quick tests:

Clamp your induction clamp around the stem between the two antenna arrays and look for a signal better than 980 on the receiver. Remove clamp and move it away from the stem, the signal should drop significantly.

Plug in your direct connects to the Transmitter, hook the black and red clips together and lay them on the floor in a large loop and move the receiver over the wires back and forth several times. The needle should center over the wire and again you should have a signal higher than 980 that drops significantly once you move away. Keep the reciever away from the transmitter while doing this.

If the unit passes these two tests, then take it out and clamp in on an easy, relatively isolated service line at your house.

Bingo thats exactly what I was gonna say to do. I still have my 810 from back in the late 90's and everyone wants to steal it from me LOL. Supervisors included.... I love that thing but its not for beginners as you will send a signal down everything in the ground LOL!
