Great post. I too run into those almost daily.

Abandoning a gas line??? The gas is out front, why do I need to locate the back yard???

And today I was looking at the tickets and found 'putting guard around gas meter' on commercial properties, maybe 20 of them. The instructions; "mark rear, sides and front of property to street".

Law 38: a contractor will never speak English!!

Law 39: anytime you need your supervisor he will always be at dinner with his family and away from his computer!!

Law 40: you will always get in trouble for a new rule that was added into the handbook yesterday that you have not yet been informed of.

Law 41: Any document the company has you sign will always end with "could result in termination"!

Law 42: Anytime there is a damage on a late ticket you havn't yet had time to mark because you have more work on your board than one man could possibly get to, the first question will always be. "did you contact the contractor to let him know you will be late and put it in your notes?"

Law 43: you will always be asked to raise your production while maintaining perfect quality at the same time.

Law 44: keeping your truck spotless always comes first, then you can do your late tickets.

Law 45: you will always be sent home early during the week so you can work a mandatory weekend because there are going to be too many late tickets

Law 46: you will always drive past 15 locators to get to your area, because they live in the area they work...

Law 47: All supervisors wear brown noses and knee pads as their form of safety equipment...

Law 48: your truck is 12,000 miles past a scheduled oil change...

Law 49: you will never make enough money to buy a new pair of boots...

Law 50: everytime you have 100 late tickets on your board, you will be told you have a trainee ride along... and your not allowed to bash the company towards them..

I honestly thought I was the only one who adhere to law #48. I've actually broke 48 once and waited to the 19,000 mark before I was called on the carpet about not turning in any oil change reciepts. I stick to my story about preforming the oil change my self to save the company some money

Law # 51 : you will always lose track of a cable/ pipe on the "easy" locate, causing you to spend 30 or more minutes looking for said utility, only to find that it has been cut/ abandoned for 4 years.
