    Default Locating at Night...........

I'm half way through the 3rd week of Night closures. One more week and it will be done.....hopefully.

This has been my longest stint doing night work and a few things came to mind.......

    1) I wish the 810 transmitter had a beacon light on it. Induction in calf high grass makes it difficult to find your box in daytime, it makes it way more difficult at night.

    2) I also noticed none of the paint really stands out. if it wasn't for the flags no one would see the paint.

Any of you guys have tips or tricks besides glowsticks to make the transmitter more visable?

    just curious

When I pulled on-call in rural areas I used to buy those cheap party favors at Wally World or Party Galaxy that have the little strobes on them. They're actually a sticker, pull the tab out, and they flash for like 5 or 6 hours. I only found them around New Years, but I'd buy a whole bag. Stick it to the transmitter and you'll have NO problem finding it even in 7 ft. grass on a moonless night. Might check party supply places, they were a popular novelty for awhile, especially in clubs.

I have the 810dx. It has flashing lights on it. The reciever also has a back light. We use head lamps for night work, otherwise all of the paint looks the same or can't be seen. All of our vehicles have spot lights on them, so if the truck is close we can put the light on our box.
