    Default Landscapers claiming utilities are no longer marked

    Article claimng that locators are too busy to mark all the lines they used to. Premier Utility Services is mentioned.

    Since when do contract locators mark private lines? Operators are always trying to have contract locators mark out private lines and that that's not part of their scope. They're to mark utility owned portions, not any services.....he just didn't want to hire a private locator, I see it all the time.

    Some areas of New York you mark the services depending if the Electric company installed them or requires you to. You might mark the electric service to one house and not to the house next door because it was built later and the Electric company stopped installing services. They were then installed by private contractors or the home builder and are considered private lines. You have to check the prints and see which houses get their services marked. Also come cable companies require the services to the houses to be marked and other cables companies don't. Sounds like a contractor crying about something they don't fully know about. I'd say on the average, most electrical and cable services in New York are not required to be marked.
