I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.

She & Him is a great duet. I like their music.

Have a safe New Years everybody. I will be going out and WILL not be getting drunk. I'm not going to take the risk. Yes I'll have a couple of beers and if I do decide to go over the top I will for sure be taking a cab home. But, it isn't in the plans for this evening.

Hey Steve - IF your head's thumping Tuesday morning, take a little "hair of the dog" (drink alcohol to relieve the hangover).

The phrase "hair of the dog" is a metaphor for a hangover treatment that dates back to the time of William Shakespeare. In Scotland it is a popular belief that a few hairs of the dog that bit you applied to the wound will prevent evil consequences. Applied to drinks, it means, if overnight you have indulged too freely, take a glass of the same wine within 24 hours to soothe the nerves. "If this dog do you bite, soon as out of your bed, take a hair of the tail the next day."

    Drinking and driving

With the Holidays behind us, I will share a personal experience with my fellow 'Viners about drinking and driving.

As you may know, some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" with friends. Well, last week I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit.

That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a cab home. Sure enough, on the way home there was a police check point. But since it was a cab, they waved it through the road block.

I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before. I don't know where I got it. Now that it's in my garage, I don't know what to do with it.
