    John Mellencamp - Pink Houses

Oh, but ain't that America for you and me
Ain't that America, somethin' to see baby
Ain't that America, home of the free
Little pink houses for you and me

    There's a young man in a t-shirt
Listenin' to a rockin' rollin' station
He's got greasy hair, greasy smile
He says, "Lord this must be my destination."
'Cause they told me when I was younger
    "Boy, you're gonna be president."
But just like everything else those old crazy dreams
    Just kinda came and went

Some 80's tracks should have been left in the 80's. lord, this was one of them!

    Cool Re: Great Music

I dedicate this song to all of our service men and women. Past, present and those yet to shed blood sweat and tears for our freedom!

Another mission, the powers have called me away
Another time to carry the colors again
My motivation, an oath I’ve sworn to defend
To win the honor of coming back home again

No explanation will matter after we begin
Unlock the dark destroyer that’s buried within
My true vocation and now my unfortunate friend
You will discover a war you’re unable to win

    I’ll have you know
    That I’ve become Indestructible
    Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
    Annihilation will be unavoidable

    Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you’re alive
I’m an indestructible master of war!

Another reason, another cause for me to fight
Another fuse uncovered now, for me to light
My dedication to all that I’ve sworn to protect
I carry out my orders without a regret

My declaration embedded deep under my skin
A permanent reminder of how it began
No hesitation when I am commanded to strike
You need to know that you’re in for the fight of your life

    You will be shown
    How I’ve become Indestructible
    Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
    Annihilation will be unavoidable

    Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you’re alive
I’m an indestructible master of war!

I know a captain of my local fire department who worked in a fire station with a Vietnam veteran. Both were on fire duty late one night and responded to a horrific, multiple-car pile-up with fatalities on Interstate 70 east of Arrowhead Stadium. The scene was strewn with first-responders laboring on bloody bodies, wreckage, smoke, flashing lights and the heavy chopping sounds of the blades of Life Flight Heuy helicopters parked on each end of the crash sight.

The captian and the vet were inside a squashed car working together to extradite a victim when the vet told my captain buddy, "I'm starting to lose it!" My captain buddy told the vet to sit this one out in the pumper truck.

There was good reason the Vietnam vet was "losing it." During his tour in Vietnam, the veteran was the last man standing in his squad; not once, but twice! Later, the vet commented he was convinced while he was on Interstate 70 he was actually in Vietnam dodging death.
