i saw no hard marks. the utilities do not locate their own stuff?
The damager is going to wish he hit a sewer because he will probably be in more shite, Just hope its a wake up call , seems no one gets locates done in these parts.
The Gas company will send out a "contract locator" upon request, I use that term loosely, usually a plumber swinging a split box locator (Metrotech 840B etc) .. I did a private locate a few weeks ago and they already had a gas Man out to locate the gas service line, I went over that line & found his marks to be 18" out using RD4000 Peak & Null verify along the whole 50metre run.
Apparantly they had plans , The paperwork that comes with the plans says & this is a direct quote from the paper that is stuck to the back of the plan.

It is your responsibility to follow these important conditions when working in the vicinity of transmission pipelines.
Excavation works in the vicinity of a transmission pipeline is an offence without a permit. A permit may be
obtained from an APA Group representative prior to any excavation. Excavation works in the vicinity of a transmission pipeline requires mandatory supervision by an APA Group representative.
A clearly written ‘Transmission Pipelines “Authority to Work” Request’ form must be submitted to APA Group. Along with the request form you must provide the following before APA Group will issue a permit to work:
Dial Before you Dig sequence number
Your fax number, name & contact details
A copy of your public liability insurance to the value of at least $20 million dollars is required.
Insurance cover greater than $20 million may be determined by APA Group depending on the
excavation proposed.
Plans of the proposed work if it is within 3 metres of the transmission pipe
Work on the site must NOT commence until this permit has been received and an APA Group representative is present.
A minimum of 48 hours notice must be allowed between receipt by APA Group of the “Authority to Work” Request’ form and the planned time for commencement of work.
