My best 5:00 emergency was for burying a horse.
We get "fake" emergencies all the time. It is a total pain in the a$$ because you are always on the other side of town when they come in and you know they are not an emer at all and chances are the crew won't be on site for hours anyway.
I had an emergency tonight for "Repair Water Service".
Turned out, their irrigation line had been leaking for months and they just now (5:00 PM) decided to have it repaired.
I got called to an oil pipeline rupture in a buffalo paddock at 3am once. They are not terrible friendly animals. Tasty, though....
Well it takes 1hr 45 mins to get from 1 end to the other in my area 7 counties single way tickets still average between 35 to 55 a day but it sucks if im ending my day at 1 end of my area and get an emergency in at the other end.
A sewer repair company has been in the habit of calling in emergency tickets on an almost daily basis between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm for sanitary sewer repairs. Even though they dig primarily right off the front foundation of the home, and the dig areas are usually indicated by the city sanitary district with a green flag, this company still calls in locate requests for the entire property, ROW, street, and entire front of property across the street from the address. These "emergencies" are known about for days or weeks in advance, and the city sanitary district reports them out to this contractor. I reported this contractor to my state's governing body a few years back and it made a difference for a while, but not long.
My boots may be red but I'm no clown.
