    Default Doggie Doo Doo card

    We've all had our reasons for not being able to mark up a site. Locked gates. Rabid animals in the yard. Insane traffic patterns. Homeowner has a shotgun in hand. The list is long, I'm sure. This year, I'm thinking of playing a new card. I may start refusing to mark some backyards because there's too much dog crap. Yes, I'm wearing work boots and I step in some pretty disgusting things throughout the day, but I'm tired of dodging doggie bombs because people are too lazy to pick up after their pets. Then my boots reek the rest of the day, and the stuff gets on my truck floor. I'm talking about the yards that have more poo than yard, the ones that are just covered in the stuff. Any thoughts?

    And what are some reasons you've refused to mark a job site?
    My boots may be red but I'm no clown.

    I always draw a circle around the dog poo, that way I don't step on it on the way out. Plus in my area, we have different companys locating different utlities so when they come in the yard they will see a couple dozen circles where the dog poo is located. They do the same for me.

    There are two things about this;

    One - Dog poop is the only perk this job has, you get to keep all you paint.

    Two - There is money in that poop! Years ago a guy started a dog poop pickup service. Once a week he came to people's homes and picked up all their dog poop. Nwo he operates the firm from the offcie while his employees pick up the poop.

    Since then a number of different firms doing this have started up, I think even franchises are for sale. One example is http://www.dootycalls.com/

    So use the locate job to scout customers and then have the wife pick up the poop!

    I've been known to "accidently" drag my feet across peoples patios if I step in a pile of poo. It's one thing to have a few piles in your yard but like you said when you can't even take a step without stepping in poo you have too many dogs.

    As for reasons to not locate a yard it is normally just a locked fence or a mean dog. When either of these happen we have to call the ticket holder and find a way into the yard or have the dog put inside the house so we can do our job.

    Thanks for the ideas! I'm gonna start painting the poop and wiping my feet off on their patios. I wonder how long it will be b/4 someone calls in and complains?

    I'll use their spigot/hose and a flag to clean my boots before I get back in my truck...I figure if they say anything, hey, it happened in your back yard, it's staying in your back yard. I wouldn't want to get arrested for theft of property lol

    As far as smell goes...the cooler, breezy days are tolerable...but what about those 90 degree days that bakes the s**t and you can smell it before you get out of your truck...
