Default Do not drive through Flowing water

This lady drove her 300 around cones and into a 20' wide hole caused by a watermain break. The lady did not have insurance and kept stating she was going to sue the city. A city worker asked the lady why she drove around the cones? Her response was she did not want to go around the block.

The city worker called her a DumbAss in front of TPD, and all the rest of us out there.

We had a couple of things happen this year along these lines.

One was a guy was coming into work and was in the wrong lane. He decided to cut between the cones to get to the lane he needed. Unfortunate for him we milled 16" of asphalt in that section and he took his 2003 accord of the largest "Curb" he has ever seen. Thrashed the front end real good.

The second one didn't turn into an incident, it just shows that stupid people don't follow bright orange signs or cones or flaggers. We were doing some work by our terminal and closed down a portion of inbound traffic. Set up cones, signs, automated signs, and even had a flagger at the begining warning people. I was in the work area locating utilities when I seen a car coming down the closed portion of the road. Being cautious of my equipment I went towards my transmitter to find it was an "F"ing cabbie driving down the closed work area followed by 5 of his stupid friends. We were actually called off performing locates due to safety issues and good thing. In the next 45min I was there, we had over two dozen vehicles come into the work area. One doing 40mph in a regularly posted 25mph zone. One of the inspectors actually through a cone at one of the cabbies for driving in the work area..... it was pretty funny.

    That'll buff right out!
She deserved it, if not for the fact it was an obvious work area, at the very least because she didn't have insurance. That's a lot of potential liability rolling around on 4 wheels.

Some people just don't understand what "ROAD CLOSED" means....
"No, installing your fence is NOT an emergency"...

Yes, my avatar does describe my attitude towards many others...
