    Default Death of an Icon

In case any of you have not heard, David Carradine, the actor who played Kane in the "Legend of Kung Fu" died Thursday. He was the original Grasshopper and obviously one of my heroes as a kid (along with Buck Rodgers and Flash Gordon).

He was found in a hotel room in Bankok. The reports here in US are calling the death an apparent suicide. I don't buy it. Here's the basic rundown.

    David was 72 yrs. old.
He was found nude with a cord from the curtain around his neck.
His hands were tied behind his back.

Sooo... at 72, he wakes up one day and says, "You know what would be a neat trick.. I'll strip down buck naked, tie my hands behind my back and then choke myself to death with the curtain cord over there."

I think the man was into sexual auto-asphyxiation and things got a little out of control with some hot little thai girl. She probably got freaked out and hauled out of there. His ex-wife did say in a old interview that he had some "unusual" habits in the bedroom.

If that is truly the case, I am once again impressed that he was 72 and getting it done like that. What do you guys think?
I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.

How Did David Carradine Die: Suicide or Bizzare Sex Accident?

Wikipedia - On June 4, 2009, Carradine was found dead in his room at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel on Wireless Road, near Sukhumvit, in central Bangkok, Thailand. A police official said Carradine was found hanging by a rope in the room's closet, and the Bangkok Post reported that his body was found curled up in the wardrobe with a shoelace tied around his genitals and neck.

Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunand, a Thai forensic pathologist and Director of Central Institute of Forensic Science, stated the incident met four of the criteria for accidental death involving autoerotic asphyxiation. Police Lieutenant General Worapong Chewprecha, Commander of the Metropolitan Police, remarked that the closed circuit television installed within the hotel supported the theory that no other persons were involved with the death. Carradine's representative and family members told the press that they believed the death to be accidental and not a suicide. However it has also been reported that Carradine was found "with his hands tied behind his back." Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, indicated neither suicide nor accident was the likely cause since "the family has been told Carradine's hands were immobilized (behind his back) by the rope.

Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot his latest movie, Stretch, and had been known to join the film crew for dinner. The crew noticed his absence when going out to dinner on June 3, but assumed he was simply taking the night off.

Immediate speculation was that David Carradine was a victim of suicide, but those who knew him do not think that is possible and it is now believed that his death was accidental. Autopsy results will be released in the next few days.

David Carradine with current wife Annie Bierman

A statement on behalf of his family has yet to be released, but Binder called the death "shocking and sad ... He was full of life, always wanting to work ... a great person."

But despite an enthusiasm for his work, the actor had openly discussed his battle with suicidal thoughts. In a 2004 interview, Carradine said: "I remember one time sitting at the window of the third or fourth floor of the Plaza Hotel for about an hour, thinking about just tipping off."

He also said he had considered shooting himself.

"Look, there was a period in my life when I had a single action Colt 45, loaded, in my desk drawer. And every night I'd take it out and think about blowing my head off, and then decide not to and go on with my life. Put it back in the drawer and open the laptop and continue writing my autobiography or whatever. But it was just to see."

Carradine had a son, Free (b. 1972; name since changed to Tom) with Barbara Hershey, his domestic partner from 1972 to 1975.

Later, he was married five times. He had a daughter Calista (b. 1962) by first wife Donna, and a daughter Kansas (b. 1978) by second wife Linda. He had three other daughters—Amanda, Madeline and Olivia—and another son, Max.

Each of Carradine's first four marriages ended in divorce. On December 26, 2004, he married Annie at the seaside Malibu home of his friend, Michael Madsen. The ceremony was performed by his attorney and his wife's longtime friend, Vicki Roberts.

72 year old "sicko" David Carradine, trying to get a "Turbo-Charged" nut by self-induced choking, masturbating, laying half-naked with his nuts tied in a sling inside a Bangkok hotel closet, found out the truth of Bible verse concerning Judgment Day:

"There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or secret that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be shouted from the rooftops." (Luke 12:2-3)

Like many other events these days we won't know the truth until the media quits reporting every rumor that comes their way. It is still too soon to make a reasoned conclusion.

Hmmm... I don't ever recall a preacher in church telling me NOT to tie up my balls and choke out while breaking one off. Would that be considered a sin?

I this may be one of those grey areas.

So, bein able to get it up, much less get it on at 72 makes you a sicko? In whose stupid reality? Why is God so interested in our genitals and what we do with them? Kind of creepy, makes him somewhat of a "sicko". Why is it, no matter how complex or intricate the question in life, it always comesback to a penie and a giner? If I could ONLY recieve as much from our Lord.

advanceMan - Your response tells me you are ignorant of life's simple truth. Regardless, here is my point about David Carradine. Not once considering how it would effect the ones David loved and to satisfy his own lust, David worshiped self-gratification with a bizarre, edgy twist; autoerotic asphyxiation.

Pounding out his nut before dinner is not sinful. The suicidal tendency that is part of autoerotic asphyxiation is sinful. Now David's dead, and there are people worldwide (Wingfoot and others) who will remember him as a "sicko" and not the great actor he is/was.

No man is an island; for good or bad. The effects of our sins will eventually show. This process contains the power to reach out and multiply its potential for damage by involving others who may be innocent. His widowed wife(s) and all his kids will have to deal with the stigma to the "sicko" label attached to husband and dad.

I am sure that when he was laying in that hotel closet with his nuts and throat wrapped up in shoe laces, his wife and kids never entered his mind. Now the entire world knows what David Carradine tried in vain to keep secret.

wingfoot, I am quite obviously not ignorant, and though i do enjoy a theological debate occasionally, I prefer to keep away from that subject here for the most part. Perhaps you should reflect deeper on the nature of my statement. David Carradine will only be remembered as a sicko by those of your ilk.

advanceMan - I know you are not ignorant or stupid on all things. Please believe me when I say I never called you ignorant or stupid for the sake of being ignorant or stupid. Stupid can't be fixed. Although, I do believe you are ignorant on one thing; life's simple truth. ........... Luv ya Man!
