    Thumbs up Re: Cruisin' tunes

Nobody plays the guitar like Carlos Santana. Carlos has been involved with so many memorable songs.

Carlos Santana, the son of a Mexican mariachi violinist, knows how to rock and has been since the late 60's.

    My Country,

    My Ass!

Are you disgusted with the way the political classes are destroying our country with massive taxes and debt and shredding our freedoms with the nationalization of everything they can get their hands on?

John Ringer is the writer & singer of his song displaying his disgust with America's bureaucrats, "My Country, My Ass."

Ringer describes the song as a country-rock, anti-government, protest song written in response to the John Mellencamp anthem, "My Country."

Here's how Ringer originally told it to the Libertarian News Examiner.

"A few years ago I was watching football on TV and a truck commercial came on during the break. The truck commercial used John Mellencamp's song 'My Country.' It showed various wholesome, proud, apple pie images of an idealized America. It made me think one:

"What country do they think they live in? It's not the one I live in!

    And - two:

Oh great! The vast herd of American sheep are going to see this commercial and continue to believe all that grade school brainwashing they received about truth, justice and the American way."

And then Roger thought to himself, "My Country, My Ass! I should write a song making fun of that song."

And so he did. And recorded it:

"I want to counteract the embedded social consciousness held by most Americans that they are free people living in a free country," Ringer wrote on his Facebook site. "I am trying this using popular music and mainstream media."

And so, as described in his Project Overview, he began mailing out CDs of his song to radio stations all over America and asking freedom-minded people, like his fellow libertarians, to call in and request the stations play it on-air.
