    Default coolest animal

Besides the occassional ave. "D" Rock hog what was the most interesting animal have you ever come across while locating I bring this one up every now and then........mine was a florida Panther. I was locating a BST duct that had two dyelectric foc's so I was not having any fun at all, it was almost 100 degrees and 100% humitty your typical beautiful south Fla. day when out of know where this beautiful cat crossed my path not even 30 to 35 feet in front of me. it was every bit of 150 pounds at least 6ft from tip of nose to tail. Tan Brown coat with a black face. He looked at me, I prayed to GOD and then it smiled and walk away. when I was finally able to move my legs I took a deep breath and walked back to my truck went to the nerest gas station and cleaned the crap out of my pants. but that was the coolest encounter I have had........how bout you........

A flock of guinea fowl? APPARENTLY some one lets the free range all over the road! Would have made a nice dinner if I was closer to home and knew how to clean them!

No deadly animals where I live(thank God). I do spook up the occasional deer, red fox, and plenty of turkey.

While sitting in the fro0nt lot of where I used to work in St.Augustine early one morning a flock of peacocks came struting along in front of my truck. Had to get another sip of coffee after that. There were all kind of weird animals floating around N. Fla. because of all the pets being let go when the owners could no longer care for them. I heard rumours of a couple of spider monkeys hanging around. Being from S Fla., Ninjs, I can imagine that there all kinds of stuff hanging down there. Wasn't there a zoo or something that burned in the 40's or 50's that was responcible for the armadillos in the south east. Seen any parrots, Can you tell I miss Florida?

I got attacked by someones pet rooster. Friggin' bastard ran off the porch, tore apart my pants, and started pecking at my leg. So, I kicked it (Adam Vinatieri would have been proud). Now talk about a cock fight.

in my wanderings i've came accross elk, deer, coyote, and the infamous tweaker.

The real eye openers were a Bobcat, a Turkey with an attitued (now has racing stripes), and did a locate in the elephant enclosure at the local zoo. Does that count?

Almost forgot about a family favorite around here. Some families north of here own Llamas. Then we had the infamous Liger for awhile (a couple of small family pet went missing in the same neighborhood around the same time). Locating at the zoo does not count, although you have to watch for them damn monkeys throwing shit at you, especially after closing time. You don't have to worry about Lions in this area, their a bunch of pussies.

An ostrich pecked the hell out a buddy's head in the area next to mine. After I knew he was ok I laughed my butt off when he told that story. He ended up hiding in old abandoned car until he had the chance to bolt away from the thing. For me, it was a 7 foot savannah monitor lizard this homeowner had on a leash walking it like it was a dog. That was a little odd. He had a garage with a couple more of the things in it and a couple of really big burmese rock pythons ( big like about 15 feet long). The dude was a reptile nut.
I seek not to know the answers, but to understand the questions.

Came across a flock of perhaps 1000 SNOW Geese once. Its quite a sight seeing these huge white geese with black wing tips.

They look really neat lifting off. Only see them for a few days each spring and fall. They spend their summers in the Arctic and winters in Central America.

Twice in the field I have watched Bald Eagles in flight. Once I watched a pair (appeared to be one larger male & one smaller female) flying slowly over a wooded area. And once a buddy of mine from the gas company & I watched one fly 1,000s of feet in the air to meet a flock of Canadian geese flying north. Neither time did I witness the eagle(s) score a kill.
